A very beautiful children's picture book that contains such deep feeling I would gift it to an adult also.

If I may say so, the book could only have been written by a Japanese author. It has that simple, profound yet quiet beauty that characterises Japanese art. The illustrations are gorgeous. The way it shows the inner world of people who emigrate will resonate with any of us who have had such a life.

One can see why this book earned the Caldecott Medal.
