An endearing story-picture book about horses. A family living in beautiful countryside keep horses. A baby foal is born in the stable. It is not so much a story as a simple telling of what is involved in caring horses. We see the little foal grow up as the family cares for him. We see how the horse is trained for riding. Alongside the horse, the families children also grow and learn to ride.

The illustrations are lovely, the people are likeable, and there is a lot to look at and learn here for those children who admire horses. A pleasant book.
