This is a lovely large children's reference book introducing around 90 sea creatures. It is illustrated with fascinating photographs, combined with artful illustrations. The text is readable and packed with interesting facts. It is a book for those children who enjoy reading information. It would also make a great reference book for a school.

What I particularly appreciate about this publication is this: many books nowadays that deal with life under the sea try to be spectacular by emphasising the ugly and weird character of many sea creatures. They give an impression of the sea as a place full of the most unexpected monsters. This book does not rely on this sensationalism. It manages to show the grandeur, impressiveness, and variety of sea creatures in a way that is still beautiful and awe-inspiring.

This is a useful and interesting book, full of facts to learn about the amazing variety found in creating.
