I chose to include this book solely because my children enjoyed it so much. We read it over and over.

It is written in verse, though it is aims more at teaching phonics to early readers than at being poetic. Somehow this story about a criminal ape who escapes from prison and makes a run for freedom captured the imagination of my sons. On his run home he gets into various disasters and at the end he gets recaptured by the prison guards.

This is a light-hearted fun book. Children seem to love it, and I find nothing harmful in it.
