This picture-storybook is a celebrations of loveable people; friendship; fabulous colours; the ‘true’ artistic process; and hope. It takes place in an urban neighbourhood in the United States, most likely in New York. Reading this book is a special experience. You can feel the love and joy that the writer has for her characters. You can feel how much she must have loved her family as a child. This book is a work of art.

Young children will want to read it again and again. It is a book for everyone, but I except that girls will generally relate to it more and enjoy it more.
