This book is two things at once. It is the story of a wonderful determined cat who makes something of himself; and it is about the importance of having useful work. A street cat who made mischief because he had nothing much to do is supported by opportunity and a little loving encouragement to become a heroic firefighter.

This is a splendid book. The way it is written; the characters it presents; the way the cat solves his problems; the illustrations full of character; all work together to make an excellent storybook.
