'The Sky Above Us' is one book in a series of books made by Jake Wood and Kate Petty to teach geology to children. This particular instalment deals with the earth's atmosphere, the weather, the sun and the wind. Like the rest of the series, this book is very well made.

The illustrations are lovely. The text is simple, easy to read and informative. It is not only a collection of interesting facts, but it attempts to give its readers a general understanding of geological phenomena. To a large extent it succeeds.

This book would make a great reference book for learning about the elements of the sky. It would be very suitable for a school library. It would also make an excellent gift for any child who loves learning and understanding the natural world about them. It is simply written but it is not dumbed-down. It will be appreciated by children who are curious and try to understand natural phenomena.
