The sword in the stone is an intriguing legend that comes to us from Arthurian literature. It is the known story that a special sword is trapped in a stone and it can only be pulled out by the rightful king of England. The legend was made more popular by T.H. White’s novel of the same name.

There exist many children’s books retelling this simple yet mystical and captivating story. Many of them are worthwhile and are written for different ages. For younger Children What Dinsey’s Little Golden Book version is a nice one, with illustrations from their 1963 animation.
