This book was produced by a charity set up to protect biologically significant and threatened habitats around the world called the World Land Trust (WLT). They made this book to raise funds for their work, but primarily to raise awareness about the amazing habitats that they are working to save.

The book is divided into sections, each dedicated to a special natural habitat. Habitats from around the globe are introduced. The book gives us some information about the wildlife of the place, as well as a description if its unique characteristics. The purpose of all this is not to act as a 'nature information' book, but to show bring to the reader the beauty and unique value of each place. The book wants to show readers that nature is a place to love and be excited about, and to a descent extent it achieves this aim.

The best aspect of this book are its beautiful illustrations. The artist did a great job depicting the beauty and liveliness of the natural habitats depicted. The layout is great, mixing these drawings with interesting photographs. The book is very nice to look at.

The content is worthwhile also. We learn a little about some o the animals, as well as something about the conservation work that WLT are carrying out in that area.

We all love the natural world. It is God’s amazing creation. Many of us however have grown weary of too much didactical alarmist ‘environmentalist’ children’s material. This is not that. It is not a stressful book and its aim is to bring you to see what is love-worthy in nature around the world. I feel that this is the acceptable beneficial sort of environmentalism. Its focus is what is magnificent and worth saving in the world. It does not dwell on all the things that humanity has done wrong.

Each chapter includes a couple of sentences with a suggestion about what the reader can do to help conserve nature. The advice given is realistic and something children can do without stressing them out that they need to save the world from the destruction their parents have caused. An environmentalist book in the better sense.
