This colouring book is part of a wonderful series of colouring books produced by Dover Publications. Each page shows a British monarch in action: King James I is shown preparing a translation of the bible; King Richard III is seen fighting in a rebellion; King William I is seen arriving on England’s shore.

The images are arranged in chronological order and one learns the basics of British Royal History by going through this book. Each picture has an informative paragraph of text accompanying it. Even adults learn a lot by looking at the images and reading the texts.

The hand-drawn images have enough detail to interest an adult, but I have seen many children happily colouring them in as best as they could. These colouring books are educational and beneficial for all ages. The images are lovely to look at. Colouring them involves you in the grandeur and action that characterised royal history.
