This is an interactive puzzle book for primary school children. It takes place in a Medieval kingdom which creates a charming setting full of royals, knights, jesters, minsrtrels, priests and villains. The reader takes on the role of a noble knight tasked with saving the king from his enemies who wish to poison him. The reader needs to answer questions correctly in order to progress through the book and achieve their aim.
The book has an educational purpose as well as being entertaining. It teaches many facts about Medieval life at court. The questions used are challenging as well as interesting. The book manages to give a descent overall impression of the era. It is notable that, unlike much literature about the Middle Ages, this one does not ignore how deeply religious the societies were at the time. In this sense, by depicting (alongside much else) how the Church was a significant part of people's lives, the book offers a more truthful impression of the era.
