This picture-story book feels a bit like an antique. It was published in the 1950’s, and I would say, its value comes from its age. It shows us images of both the rural and urban Holland of its time. The illustrations are lovely and the story’s characters are charming.

It is a book for those who care particularly about the Dutch lifestyle, but it is also for anyone who wants to emersed themselves in beautiful images of the past and enjoy a moment in a simpler, less-technological time, full of people and farmer’s markets. A pleasant and happy book.
