A simple story about a boy who goes to spend a few weeks with his aunt in Provence, this book is an introduction to the artists Cézanne and Picasso. Reading this book children will learn that southern France is a beautiful place, and that both Cézanne and Picasso have lived there. Children also get a bit of an impression of French culture.

The story does not have much more to offer that that, but it is pleasant to read, and the illustrations are nice. The purpose of the book is to raise interest in these two artists.
