A comic book in the Tintin series with the theme of Soviet Russia. This book follows the adventure of Tintin and his dog as they travel into Communist Russia to act as reporters for a Belgian newspaper. The plot that drives the story is a simple back and forth between the authorities that are trying to kill Tintin and his endless ability to escape.

Using this (almost slapstick) humorous storyline the author presents his readers with various unfortunate realities that happened during the communist era. All of the 'facts' discovered by Tintin are true and the book acts as a gentle introduction to some of the cruelties and political problems that the Russian people lived through during the Soviet era. The book is an easy introduction to the politics of the 20th century.
