Another well-written book where childlike innocence and goodness work miracles by F.H. Burnett. The young Lord Fauntleroy brings warmth into his grandfather’s otherwise cold selfish heart. Through persistence and good behaviour hope dawns on a gloomy run-down English shire.

Placed in the mid 1880’s between England and New York City. We learn something about the life of both places as well as 19th century wealth inequalities and socio-political structures. An interesting book for its sociological insights as well as its psychological insights.

Lord Fauntleroy and his mother are both loveable characters that have something to teach us about maintaining kindness and personal dignity amidst difficulties. This is a book about kindness, love and friendship.
