The Nightingale tells the well known traditional Chinese fairytale of the emperor who wanted to have a bird known for its majestic singing. It is a very interesting fairytale containing several concepts worth pondering. It's main theme is the question of how one can keep beauty close to them. how do you optain something loveable, and in which ways can you loose that which is valuable. The story is about an emperor who matures in his understanding of how to love beauty and keep it near him.

This rendition of the book is well written and the illustrations are wonderful, worthy of the depths of the story itself. Alas it is not as common as we would have wished to find a good retelling of a fairytale, but here is a great one!
