This is a book filled with action and adventure from its start to its (distant) finish. It will appeal too children's sense of excitement. It keeps its readers on the edge of their seat.

The story follows a herd of rabbits that travel across Hampshire until they find a safe location to build their warren. However, although this is a story of rabbit characters, it is not meant for younger children. The adventures in the story are often violent, and the themes broached are complex. This is an adventure story with many facets, philosophical and political ones that can only be appreciated by older children.

The remarkable thing about the story is that the author succeeded masterfully in anthropomorphising the rabbit characters whilst staying true to their physical reality. Reading this book, you get to know the natural life of rabbits to great detail. You will never look at rabbits in the same way after reading the story, because you will feel that you understand them far to well. Whilst the rabbit characters have personalities and speak like people would, you do not notice that they are saying anything that a real rabbit would not be thinking. It is amazing that the author has achieved to personify the rabbits with such correctness.

You will notice that the author studied the nature and habits of rabbits thoroughly and he used his knowledge with genius.

Children who enjoy adventure will find this ingenious book breathtaking, and they will learn a lot about the natural world.
