This western adventure story is a real treat. Louis L'Amour is an expert in building up an adventure and drawing to a satisfying ending. If you have not read many westerns before, you will enjoy the setting, with its 'wild and free characters' who make up their world as they go.

There is something exciting and fun about this book, and at the same time, it has a philosophic sombreness and an ethical correctness that allow the reader to get properly excited about the story. This book comes from a world that does not exist anymore, but any reader will feel the wind of freedom blow through their hair.

A solidly fun book with adventure and intriguing characters. It is also a romantic love story, but the boys will not notice it for all the gun shooting!
