A very well-known and influential 19th century classic. It is perhaps the most famous vampire book ever written.
It is not as gruesome as the subject-matter suggests. There is a lot of philosophy written into the text, and the characters involved have a lot of personal dignity.
Reading it we see a different world; not only the imaginary world of count Dracula, but also, the world of Bram Stoker. This is certainly not a brainless vampire story relying on gore. We see a different way of thinking and feeling that would have resonated with many in the 1800’s when the book was written, but which has been lost to time.
A fun book (in a dark way). Further, this book has the value of being cult classic. It will put you in-the-know about much of the vampire-theme cultural phenomena that have become popular since.
There are many publications of this book and you can choose the most easily available one.
