Written by the Russian literary genius, this book is difficult to describe. The book covers many themes including: mental health; egotism; pride; isolations; class differences in an unequal society; the mental impact of poverty and hardship; friendship; and love.
All of these themes are brought together in Dostoyevsky's usual style: extremely intellectual and yet gripping. Reading this book you will feel its quality. The reader can tell that this book contains an immense quality and is carried away by it. This book should be on your list of required reading for anyone who wants to be educated in the basics of literary culture.
This book is considered one of the world's classics. For this reason many people read it as teenagers. However, although they may be gripped by the story, I do not believe that readers that young can understand the themes that are covered (with such complexity) in the book. I recommend it to readers who are at least twenty.
