This book was self-published and one can tell it hasn’t been through the usual production line - in a good way. It has a subtle, yet refreshing uniqueness and originality about it. At the same time, it feels like you are reading a traditional fairytale.
It is a funny book. Many of the jokes are silly (what we would call dad jokes perhaps), but it is a happy humour and kids enjoy it. The story seems uninvolved and light-hearted: but when you think about it, you realise it has an underlying fundamental truth about it.
It is the story of an innocent and simple man who has goodness. With his goodness he manages to survive the machinations of powerful murderous and ambitious enemies. He comes out the victor. Goodness overcomes both known and unknown dangers. What appears to be worldly weakness and foolishness turns out to be wisest and strongest.
An enjoyable, humorous, tale that casually captured a ‘profound truth’. The character of the book reflects the character of its main hero. He also comes across as simple, and yet, he turns out to successful and 'correct'.
I will certainly have a look at other books from this author and let you know!
